I have been running pre-school music sessions for 20 years and although I have had a varied performing arts career, I have always kept working with early year children and babies.
I run early year training in music and creative play for Surestart and Bridge 2 Music and a variety of projects in singing, comedy and contempory clowning for a diversity of groups, young and old.
As well as having a firm commitment to the importance of early access to music I find preschool children constantly challenging and stimulating so for me it is a two way process and one I enjoy immensely.
I am the artistic director of Theatre of Adventure www.theatreofadventure.co.uk a company which creates and performs Street Theatre for a variety of clients over the UK. Although being a Street Performer may seem a million miles away from Pre school music teacher, for me the essential elements – engaging an audience, playfulness and improvisation – are pretty much the same.
I remember Mrs Broadhead, my infant school teacher and her piano and
how much we loved it when she got us to sing our little hearts out with
musical games and how music was the highlight of the school day. Every
child needs Mrs Broadheads and I am utterly thrilled to follow in her
footsteps
“Charlotte is very experienced at working with young children.
She captivates them with her magical storytelling and inventive
musical soundscapes. She is a unique practitioner
with extensive skills and knowledge.”
Jessica Pitt – Bridge to Music
"She held the children's attention throughout and it was wonderful to see their faces as she took them on a wonderful musical / drama adventure. Her session was very imaginative and original and tailored exactly to the individual needs of the different age groups and attention spans as she made small changes in each session."
